Brieflycurious.com covers major scientific breakthroughs and translates them into clear, accessible reporting for curious readers. We focus on developments in health and medicine, space, technology, earth sciences, and the everyday science behind common questions and myths.
What we cover
Every story starts with a peer-reviewed study, a preprint from a recognized research institution, or an official announcement from a university or scientific body. We look for research that matters to readers’ daily lives — findings about nutrition, sleep, longevity, brain health, emerging treatments, and new discoveries about how the world works. We avoid speculation and press-release hype. If the research is preliminary, we say so.
Our approach
Science journalism done well respects two things: the complexity of the research, and the time of the reader. Most scientific findings are nuanced, and headlines often oversimplify them. Our goal is to explain what researchers actually found, why it matters, what’s still uncertain, and what comes next — without either dumbing it down or burying the point.
Every article links to the primary source (the study itself, or the institution’s release) so readers can verify our reporting or dig deeper.
Who we are
Brieflycurious.com is an independent science and health publication. Our editor is Martin Borko, a journalist with over a decade of experience covering science, technology, and health for European digital publications. Before launching brieflycurious.com for English-speaking audiences, he led editorial teams at science publications in Central Europe. Full biography and published work: /author/martin-borko/.
For health and medical topics, we draw on guidance from external reviewers with relevant expertise where possible. Where a specific reviewer has verified a piece of medical content, their name appears at the top of the article. Where no specific reviewer is credited, our editor is accountable for the accuracy of the published version.
We are working to expand our editorial team. Contributors and reviewers with verifiable expertise in medicine, public health, life sciences, space science, or related fields are invited to get in touch.
How we work
We use AI tools to assist with research, drafting, and editing — in the same way journalists have long used search engines, databases, and style checkers. AI does not make editorial decisions on this site. Every article is sourced from primary research, verified against the original source, and edited by a human before publication. Read about our full process in our Editorial Policy.
Our standards
We follow a published editorial policy that covers sourcing, fact-checking, AI use, conflicts of interest, and corrections. Read it here: /editorial-policy/.
We are not a substitute for medical advice. Health articles reflect current research, but individual decisions about your health should involve a qualified healthcare provider. See our Advertising Policy for how we handle sponsored content and affiliate relationships.
